Film Production About to Change
Welcome back, everyone. Today let’s talk about film production. Film production is a long and complicated process of making a movie, from producing an initial idea and core story, through writing a script, shooting, editing, promotion, distribution and so on. Film production is a demanding process involving a great number of people and taking from a few months to a number of years to complete. Some renowned directors have been known for film production lasting over ten years. Usually however it doesn’t take that long.
Film production occurs in five stages. The first one is the writing of the script and designing of a blueprint for a film. Next comes pre-production when the cast and crew are selected, the shoot is being prepared and sets built, costumes designed, etc. Production is a stage where the shooting takes place and the raw material is recorded. During post-production the film is edited, such aspects as sound, music, sound and visual effects are taken care of. The last stage is sales and distribution when the movie is screened for potential buyers, chosen by a distributor and reaches its cinema and/or home media audience.
There is much more to film production especially with DV development and the current success of independent filmmaking. The future of film production is bound to change and the traditional stages of will be dropped or transformed.
